Supporting research activity and internationalisation of the University of Warsaw

Transforming the University of Warsaw into an internationally recognised research university is one of the strategic objectives of this institution. Therefore, on 1 February 2017 a new model of allocating subsidies from central funds was introduced. They are divided into three categories:
  1. SUBSIDIES FOR INCREASING THE CAPACITY TO OBTAIN PRESTIGIOUS INTERNATIONAL GRANTS
  2. SUBSIDIES FOR RESEARCH CONDUCTED BY UNITS OPERATING WITHIN THE UNIVERSITY OF WARSAW

Professor Jorrit de Boer passed away.

Jorrit de Boer, outstanding physicist and retired professor of Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, passed away on February 1st, 2017. He was a long term collaborator and a friend of Heavy Ion Laboratory. Professor de Boer created an early implementation of the Coulomb Excitation analysis method (COULEX computer code) that became a cornerstone of many later codes and methods developed in Rochester and Warsaw (the GOSIA code) and elsewhere.  ...
