We are pleased to invite you to the upcoming SLCJ seminar, which will take place on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 12:15 (CET) in the library. Dr. Paweł Jan Napiorkowski will give a lecture: "Annual NUSTAR Week 2026 – 19 Years After Poland Joined the FAIR Project" The abstract: In 2007, Poland joined the FAIR project. During the annual NUSTAR Week 2026 conference, the current status of work on the Super-FRS separator, the detection systems, and the Letters of Intent for Early Science projects were presented. Naturally, the fire that occurred in February 2026 and its consequences for the operation of GSI and the construction of FAIR were also discussed. A summary of the meeting, the FAIR site visits, and impressions from the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the SHIP separator will be presented....

Professor Jan Żylicz passed away

On February 16, 2026, Prof. Dr. Hab. Jan Żylicz passed away — a legendary personality in Polish nuclear physics. He was a Master to many generations of scientists working in institutes around the world, including the Heavy Ion Laboratory. He was one of those Newtonian giants on whose shoulders we stand. Requiescat in pace.

On 9^th of February 2026, Prof. Wojciech Nawrocik, passed away. He was a member of the SLCJ Council, a mentor to many Laboratory staff members, and simply our Friend. He will be deeply missed.
