First experiment at HIL with metallic beam.

On the 29^{th of} April, 2017 the first experiment at HIL with metallic beam was successfully completed.

The experiment HIL066 “Transfer cross sections at near-barrier energies for the ²⁴Mg + ^90,92Zr systems” was proposed by Agnieszka Trzcińska form HIL and Władysław Trzaska from the University of Jyväskylä, Finland.

The measurements were performed at ICARE scattering chamber. Identification of back scattered ions and reaction products were done employing the Time of Flight technique and energy loss vs energy (ΔE vs E) measurement of registered ions.

The experiment was conducted in a collaboration with physicists from 6 countries: Finland, Italy, Germany, Romania, Russia and China with the Transnational Access (TNA) support from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement n°654002 .

Prof. Krzysztof Rusek – Director of HIL for term 2017-2020

On 27^th of March, 2017 Prof. Marcin Pałys, the Rector of the University of Warsaw, nominated Prof. Krzysztof Rusek for the Heavy Ion Laboratory director.
