We are proud to announce that dr hab. Aleksandra Sentkowska received the "IAAM Scientist Medal" awarded by the "International Association of Advanced Materials" based in Sweden.
The medal was awarded for distinct contributions to the field of materials science and technology. Dr hab. Aleksandra Sentkowska conducts research at HIL on methods of obtaining and properties of selenium nanoparticles with particular emphasis on the so-called green synthesis methods.
IAAM uses scientific databases to review research conducted in the fields of materials science, engineering and technology. The medal is awarded to researchers whose research has a significant impact in fields such as physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, medicine etc.
In connection with the distinction awarded, dr. hab. Aleksandra Sentkowska will give a lecture at the "European Advanced Materials Congress", which will take place on August 18-20, 2025 in Stockholm. During this event, the awarded Medal will be presented.

On September 9, at HIL we had the pleasure of hosting a delegation from South Africa, which included representatives of:

– prof. Nokuthula Kunene – Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation
– prof. Khoboso Lehloenya – Dean of the Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering
– prof. Jili Thulani from the Faculty of Physics

– prof. Jaco Oliver – Director of the Centre for High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy
– Dr. Zikhona Tywabi-Ngeva from the Faculty of Chemistry
University of South Africa
– Dr. Sithole Makgamathe from the Department of Physics
and iThemba LABs
– Dr. Mlungisi Nkosi – Head of the Tandetron Laboratory
During the meeting, we listened to short presentations of all institutions and then invited our guests on a tour of the Laboratory. We presented the ICARE experimental setup (Dr. Agnieszka Trzcińska), the NEDA+EAGLE setup (Dr. Marcin Palacz) and the radiobiological laboratory, which was talked about by Dr. Urszula Kaźmierczak.
