Dr Giulia Colucci honoured by the Rector for scientific achievements

We are proud to announce that Dr Giulia Colucci from the Heavy Ion Laboratory has been among the researchers distinguished with the Rector’s Awards of the University of Warsaw.

A total of 171 researchers received the award, granted for outstanding scientific activity, including research and development work that significantly contributes to the growth and prestige of the University. Professor Jan Żylicz passed away

On February 16, 2026, Prof. Dr. Hab. Jan Żylicz passed away — a legendary personality in Polish nuclear physics. He was a Master to many generations of scientists working in institutes around the world, including the Heavy Ion Laboratory. He was one of those Newtonian giants on whose shoulders we stand. Requiescat in pace.
