It is a pleasure to announce the second Basic Training School on Accelerators BTS24 in the framework of the EU project EURO-LABS (Grant Agreement No: 101057511).

EURO-LABS is a network of 33 research and academic institutions from 18 countries from European and non-EU countries, involving 47 Research Infrastructures (RI) in the Nuclear Physics, Accelerators and Detectors for high energy physics pillars. The project brings together, for the first time, the three research communities of nuclear physics, accelerator, and detector technologies for high energy physics, in a pioneering super-community of sub-atomic scientists. Within it, EURO-LABS ensures diversity and actively supports researchers and research groups to use its RIs.

EURO-LABS is committed to improve the efficiency of use of RIs and to increase its human and institutional basis. To this aim, EURO-LABS organizes a system of training activities,
at various levels, starting with annual Basic Training schools and Advanced Training schools.

BTS24, organized by the Heavy Ion Laboratory (HIL) and the  Institute of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology (INCT), will take place in June 18th – 27th, 2024, Warsaw, Poland.

BTS24 will involve hands-on activities around the U200-P cyclotron (HIL) and electron accelerators (INCT) to get a basic knowledge and develop experimental skills.

Scope of BTS24:

  • use of detectors
  • electron beam control and dosimetry
  • gaseous telescopes detectors
  • γ spectroscopy
  • fast timing measurements
  • targets preparation
  • gamma camera

Trainers will be local and international experts.

WARSZAWA (Warsaw) is the capital and the biggest city in Poland full of incredible history. It is a vibrant, flourishing place which attracts visitors with its history and special atmosphere. Modern architecture, friendly infrastructure and creative inhabitants – here lies the beating heart of business. Each year Warsaw hosts thousands of business meetings including conferences, congresses and fairs Here connect the scientific, cultural, economic and political interests from the entire region of Central and Eastern Europe.

15 – 20 students (early PhD students or last year master degree students) will be selected and will perform experiments with heavy ion and electron beams as well as with radioactive sources to get a basic knowledge and develop skills on use of detectors, electron beam control and dosimetry.
